In 10 years of flying through DTW/MSP/ATL I have only ever been stuck specifically because of weather at one of those airports 3 times. Interestingly enough 1 at each.

OTOH ATL and the summer seems to be a far higher risk (though still small) as this past summer there were MANY "its going to be a long day in ATL" threads.

So in the winter avoid: SEA/PDX/SLC/MSP/DTW/ORD/DTW/CLE/BOS/JFK/LGA/EWR/IAD/DCA/

and in the summer avoid all airports completely because of afternoon thunderstorms.

I am all for planning but worrying about the weather next year is probably a waste of time.
