Makes no difference if you are flying from DTW. A large storm hitting anywhere in the Midwest will disrupt the entire system. Your particular airplane may never make it to DTW if the weather is bad.

or depending on fares even Thursday -- I had a trip last week where it was $400 cheaper to stay an extra night.
DTW had winter waivers last week, but the only cancellations delays were caused by weather issues in other cities.
