I think you're right!

The symptoms and the sequence of onset in you and your husband suggests it's more likely that your husband became infected first, maybe on BA178 or maybe not, and then you picked up the infection from him.

Regarding the salmon, micro-organisms that cause food-borne infection and agents that cause food-borne intoxication don't in themselves cause the food to smell or taste "off".
Did you mean "food borne intoxication"? It sounds like a great idea
