I think you're right!

The symptoms and the sequence of onset in you and your husband suggests it's more likely that your husband became infected first, maybe from a fellow pax on BA178 or maybe not, and then you picked up the infection from him.

Regarding the salmon, micro-organisms that cause food-borne infection and agents that cause food-borne intoxication don't in themselves cause food to smell or taste "off".
