AFAIK "Food Poisoning" is a lay term for Gastroenteritis caused by eating contaminated food.
The time course is irrelevant as a discriminator.
The OP may or may not have eaten contaminated food on the BA flight but as mentioned above if the OP is concerned about the taste/possible contamination of the food on-board then BA should be contacted.
I agree that it is much more likely that both contracted viral gastroenteritis
