My comparison is that it is that the Westin is the SOTP's ugly sister. Check in and check out lines are lengthy, the Gold/Platinum desk isn't enforced, absolutely zero platinum recognition, and the breakfast buffet restaurant felt more like sizzler than a 5 star hotel.
I agree with you on everything above, except I have never had to wait in line when checking in at the Westin. On the breakfast buffet, it is disappointing and well below that of the Hilton Garden Inn's buffet. Mushy scrambled eggs, fatty bacon or sausage, tasteless skin-on potato pieces, and overcooked stewed tomatoes or mushrooms are the only hot (actually lukewarm) items.
