Customer service "help" for mysterious reservation
I went in to pc.com today to book my stays for next month's trips... when I get to the "Current Reservations" screen, I notice I'm reserved for a stay at the Hotel Indigo in Amherst next Monday. Hmmm, considering I'm going to be about 800 miles south of there next week, that will be a challenge. So I call the platinum line to find out who made the reservation. They give me the name of Margaret B... I do not know her. So before I cancel the reservation, I called the hotel because I don't want to cancel someone's reservation that may have accidentally ended up on my account. They have the same person's name, but a different PC number as well as a different CC# on the reservation. They recommend I call help desk again to make sure. (endless loop, I know)
I call back to customer service and explain that the hotel shows a different name, PC# and CC# on the reservation. All I'm told by customer service is "Well, we see your name on the reservation. Can you confirm when you are planning to arrive in Amherst?" <insert banging head on desk here>... do they even listen?? I explained everything right from the beginning... that there is a reservation on my account that I did not make for a place I'm not even going to be. Don't know that I could have been any clearer. People reading from scripts drive me nuts. I am only silver with Hilton, but I get much better service from them when I call.
Anyhow, I ended up canceling the reservation as I don't want to risk getting billed for it and then having to fight with the "wonderful" customer service at the help desk. Anyone else ever have random reservations appear on your account?
Also... if there happens to be a Margaret B. reading this who was going to the Indigo in Amherst, NY, next Monday night (2/27/12), you might want to re-confirm your reservation.
