I'm not sure of your home base or any status you have. But as far as opups go BA is very status driven. IME you really have to be silver to stand any chance. If you are US based things are a little different I understand.
If you told special assistance in advance that you wolud prefer a window seat I would have thought it would be OK. Although I dont know for sure, they probably only allocate an aisle seat because they assume most people who need special assistance are also going to struggle to get to a window seat. big companies are great at one size fits all.
Based in Brussels for the next year & half and moved there from London about 6 months ago. I have Silver and need another 100 TPs for gold (1500 points) before 8th March which is looking unlikely. I'll get rid of the AVM meal request and see if my luck improves.
Some agents on the phone are ok reserving a window seat while others say they can only book an isle. Not a big problem either way. I usually change it to a Window on shorter flights and keep the isle on longer flights.
