I have not had that problem with AMEX before. I did have my number stolen one time with AMEX, saw the charge on-line before the bill, called them up. They cancelled the card number, while on the phone, reversed the charge and overnighted a replacement.

It is asy to get spoiled with USAA. Free checking, instant credit on deposits up to 10k, rebate of ATM fees, instant deposit by phone or scanner. Dirt cheap interest rate on charge card, not that i use it, but nice to have just in case. It was really great when they had the 0 interest for year promo and to transaction fee on cash advances.
