No, I don't want to get a bus to LGW
I recall this has been asked previously, but there doesn't seem to have been an answer to this perennial bugbear of the booking engine always throwing up connections which involve a LHR-LGW bus ride, even when it is clear that there is plenty of availability for a seamless transfer without having to leave the boundaries of LHR.
Why does it still do this?
Do some people, other than bus spotting anorak types, actually specifically select the option of interrupting their airborne journey with a merry jaunt around the M25 with their luggage, for the sake of saving £20 on the ticket, only to spend that on the bus ride?
How many people miss the fact they are making a booking which involves an airport change?
"The cost of travel between airports is not included in your fare" is hardly the flashing red alert I believe it should be for the unsuspecting customer; afterall, not all are FT-ers with IQs of 210. @:-)
A case in point; looking for 2 CW tickets, MAN-LAX in March. All options are the same price, yet the first three options all go MAN-LGW-sfc-LHR-LAX. On the return, 3 of the 10 options again involve LGW.
When T5 opened, I was told it heralded a new opportunity for BA to offer seamless transfers and the end of the road trip to LGW.
This clearly hasn't happened, so I ask this illustrious board, why, at a time when other airlines are striving to differentiate themselves by making the travel experience more convenient, is BA still offering a connection which is anything but convenient?
