unless it is a car from the X-categories (XTAR, XDAR, XFAR), then the deposit can be higher.
However, this is the rule for "normal rentals".
3 weeks is almost longterm, Sixt probably has different rules for that then.
btw. the deposit is not for damages etc. it is for returning the car late, not fueling up and things like that.
the bill for damages comes separately.
In any case - It is ridiculously high amount to charge customers. Yes you might return it a little late, you might not fill up the gastank - But to charge you xx amount of/possibly thousands of dollars extra isn't adding up.
There isn't really anything that justifies it - be it 2x or 3x, I don't really care - For those who don't have AMEX and DC cards, it can be very detrimental to their spending limits on their creditcards if SIXT decides to block a chunk the size of Texas!
I KNOW it isn't for damage cost - But when SIXT has ZERO excess LDW on all their rentals - You aren't going to receive a "separate bill".
