I don't want to get your hopes up too much but there is a possibility you will be travelling in the nose.
(Alternatively you might be travelling in WT+ but think of the compensation you'll have lining your pockets.)
I don't think you need to get there "as soon as possible", but if its convenient you might want to use the in-town check-in at Central Station (Google seems a bit unsure whether BA have a desk there but I think they do). I think you can check in at the station 24 hours before the flight, so you should be able to resolve any issues there.
