The air traffic controllers union (GdF) has announced a strike at Frankfurt airport, starting Monday, 20 February 2012, 5:00 am until Friday, 24 February 2012, 11:00 pm (German local time).

Lufthansa regrets any inconvenience caused to passengers by the strike measures of GdF union against the airport operator Fraport and will do its utmost to minimise the impact on passengers and operations in Frankfurt. Passenger support and service has paramount priority.

All Lufthansa longhaul flights on Tuesday are planned to operate as scheduled. Lufthansa estimates only a total of 80 roundtrips (domestic and European services) to be cancelled on Tuesday. Measures taken by Lufthansa and Fraport to limit impact of strike actions on flight operations at Frankfurt airport are working out so that passengers can be provided with a reliable special timetable.

At this stage, Lufthansa cannot foresee the impact of the strike on its flight operations beyond Wednesday, but will inform you as soon as possible.
