In all the years of flying, I have only been asked once by an FA to prove that my CPAP was a medical device. I asked her if she was joking, and then asked if I showed it to her would she know what it was anyway. She just glared at me.
What I should have done was stop in the middle of the galley where everyone was boarding, and taken everything out of the case and explained its usage to this obnoxious FA. I'm thinking about 3 or 4 minutes of passengers not being able to board would have ended her bulls*it really quickly. Next time....

I never had issues with bring it onboard in the last 7 years that I was flying with these three. I was top tier with NW and then DL.
