New CX Computer System Big Problems

I booked a one way business class ticket on 888 from YVR to JFK on Saturday night with an AA rep using AAdvantage miles. Sunday morning after making some non-refundable purchases associated with this trip, I called up and gave my credit card info to AA to purchase the award travel. A few hours later I got an email saying all Cathay award travel was on indefinite hold because of gremlins in their new computer system. No one at AA will give me any clue as to when this is likely to be fixed (I honestly believe they don't know) but they also can't tell me definitively or not whether I actually have the reservation I made on Saturday night and paid for (or thought I was paying for, it never actually hit my credit card) on Sunday morning. It is incredibly frustrating since I am in complete limbo until something happens to clear the mess. I am not even sure if I can cancel the reservation now (although I haven't tried yet). I do know AA told me today that the problems started on Friday which means they never should have made the reservation for me on Saturday (the following day).
