Pretty much the entire summer is considered peak period. I believe with korean air miles you can still redeem for flights but at an inflated price.

If you do not care for miles, some times korean travel agencies in LA have tickets that accrue no miles for cheaper prices. Also if you can get to SFO cheaply, I know that singapore air often has cheap flights from SFO-ICN that accrue no miles as well.
