I understand your frustration, as it has happened to me, but please don't let it spoil what can still be a fantastic trip.
Frustrated? Yes.
Worked up? No.

But if BA has a computer system that tells you how to get to T5, at random moments during the months before you fly, it could surely tell you other things by email as well? If it can do schedule changes, why not seating changes ... especially for those who have paid for seating, or BAEC "Status pax"?? I accept that many people won't care: but I await the next rant from a GCH who's been seat shifted!

Anyway, "I shall be writing to them".

Thanks again for the comments from everyone: I'm quite relaxed, but still expect BAEC to do something to fulfil their half of the deal in respect of seat assignment ... not for me, or to get free Avios, but to do something about a fairly simple IT fix to ensure that anyone who pre-selects or pre-pays their seats gets told that everything has changed.
