Slightly unsusual question but I just made a diamond club booking from FRA to JFK and was charged £600 in taxes for 2 people.

As some of you Avios collectors may be aware, there is a Lloyds Avios Amex credit card out at the moment that gives new customers 12.5 avios per £ spend and 25 avios per pound spend in foreign currency for the first 3 months.

I asked the ICC agent if would be possible to be charged in Euros(as I would get 25 avios per £, rather than 12.5) and he said no. However on the confirmation email it mentiones a "6 EUR FOR EX EUROPEAN BOOKINGS" credit card fee, which suggests they can and do charge in Euros.

Anyway I was just wondering if he was telling the truth or if I could push to be charged in Euros before I am ticketed? I know it sounds petty but its an extra 7500 BA miles(Avios) for almost zero effort (except of course a small foreign exchange fee) so I'd like to get it if I could. The fact that my redemption starts in Germany might help?
