I confused by the readiness to drive 1000 miles from YVR but dismiss an overnight at JFK; the latter will be no more costly in time and $.

There are lots of ways to fly in Medium band PRG-RNO with a JFK overnight. In Business class that could be a 180K mile round-trip. Whether the OP wants to keep searching for Low band, or mix classes (going or returning, or by segment) depends on how he chooses to use his time and miles. The downloadable schedule shows only three routings PRG-RNO (all done without an overnight):

PRG-AMS-SEA-RNO (not Saturdays)
PRG-CDG-SEA-RNO (daily in June)
PRG-JFK-SLC-RNO (daily in June)
