The cabin isn't wider if you're sitting in row 16! In fact if you're sitting in J downstairs it's still not wider because of the unusual galley arrangement - very narrow feeling in fact.
I guess I meant it's 2x2 and there's exit row space... I stand corrected on the statement.
I've never travelled downstairs in J on the 744 on TG.. but the snack bar they set up in between F and J is awesome..
I just like my planes fatter generally. It's width, not length for me
