I have been suggesting finding improvements that would be win-win for the entire thread. My alternative (though yours wouldn't be bad) would be to keep the proposed MM-level mapping but add:
1. Restore the RPU promise
2. Make PGMM prioritize ahead of PG, PPMM ahead of PP etc. This actually would be a better priority that under the old system in statistical terms because MMPGs would go ahead of well over half the folks they used to be tied with. Note MM status wouldn't prioritize ahead of your actual level if that was higher than your lifetime status.
3. Set the EQM counter for upgrades to equal to the value of your MM implied level. I.e. MMPGs would start the year with upgrade counter = 50K. This would be a real win for UA in that it would finally incentivize MM flyers in their current flying rather than only if they virtually stop flying.
This approach would maintain the UA concept of each MM getting one more tier on the lifetime level while mitigating virtually all the perceived value reductions excepting the 50% RDM. That's just part of the new program and really I suspect that it will go back up unless AA and friends match within the next year.
Anyway - just an alternative for them to consider in the spirit of compromise rather than what I ultimately think will be fruitless law book pounding.
