Seriously, a pretty miserable airport with a design very poorly suited for today's traffic. OP, I fly into LAX 1-2 times/mo and most are event-free. But yes, there have been times like you describe where it seems like we are going into ATL, not LAX. Frustrating gate issues with long waits but so far, only missed one connection. Haven't experienced late arrivals (unless aircraft took off late) but have had an increasing number of flts into/out of T-6. T-5 looks third world, the lounge is great, but yes, a pretty miserable airport.
