Yes indeed, the BAH/DOH and AUH/MCT used to earn full long haul TPs if booked as stand-alone sectors; so a BAH-DOH-BAH run in F could get you 360 TPs for a couple of hundred pounds. I did it once in J AUH-MCT-AUH but I needed to be in MCT anyway so it wasn't strictly a (240) TP run and the anti-social hours of the flights meant that I felt I'd earned the points, but easily the cheapest TPs ever earnt.

Some people used to fly out to the Gulf specially to do this, but after too much exposure, BA nixed these earning possibilities (there were some similar runs you could do in the Caribbean too) - can't remember now - about 4 years ago.
