Travelling LGW-UVF and UVF-POS on separate tickets?

I've been travelling down to POS (Trinidad) most weeks for the last couple of months. BA flies from LGW with a stop at UVF (St. Lucia Hewanorra) of an hour. The UVF-POS leg is only 40 minutes. Looking into a stopover in UVF on my next trip (not sure if that is possible), I happened upon a pricing anomaly.

A flexible J return LGW-POS is £4,920.90. A flexible J return LGW-UVF is only £2,779.80! Flexible J UVF-POS would be £545.00. Even without taking into account that I would be quite happy in Y at £202.00 on that leg, that is a saving of £1,596.10 - not to be sniffed at. Also, bonus tier points!

Assuming that I only have hand luggage, is it possible to do the journey on two separate tickets? Would I have to get off the plane at UVF (you normally don't) if I had OLCI for the second leg? If so, does anyone know if can I go straight to the departure gate at UVF or would I have to go through immigration/security and how long would that take?

Grateful for any thoughts. Also, does anyone have any idea why there does not appear to be any redemption availability POS-UVF in any class at any time?

Thanks
