Lhasa to Kathmandu is only about 350 miles as the crow flies, but it's a 2+ day drive. An amazing (if bumpy!) drive, but not an option you'd want to consider just to get some extra miles...

Chengdu to Kathmantu I wouldn't even want to think about...
