I stand corrected! :)

I guess a UK person knows a bit more than I about such things.

I'd never noticed a passport control area within the Flight Connections Area. I walk through the maze and get on a bus and end-up at T5 and go through security and end-up on a plane to Italy without my passport being looked at. Hmmm, maybe I'm just too delirious after an 11 hour flight to remember that part.

As EDI ( Edinburgh ) is part of the UK ( we have not declared independence yet!) you will go through passport control at your first point of entry into the UK ( at LHR) at the flight connections centre ( separate from the passport control area for pax who are finishing their journey at LHR)

You are then treated as a domestic passenger all the way to EDI ( no passport control for LHR flights at EDI).
