No way! Assuming it was a night flight thats the double whammy, can't even read to pass the time.
It has to be said that I often get through long flights without reading/watching much, but thats usually because I know I can if I want to. The moment you get told you can't read or watch anything thats when it becomes something you need to do! It happened to me on a recent KQ flight from NBO and drove me mad.
Ask for more, all they can say is no.
