Relocated to ILM, move back to DM?

How good is US Airways DM program these days?

Back in the early 2000's I used to fly US Air all the time and was a gold for a short period. The times when I needed to fly them in both coach and envoy were ok, until I started to fly other airlines in both coach/business and realised how bad they really were. This was not a major issue as living in London there were plenty of options when needing to fly to the States.

The situation now is, that BMI is closing down shortly and with that their Diamond club program will go. I am going to be relocating with my soon wife to be from London to Wilmington NC. It seems that the only choice would be to re join DM. From trying to work how much travel I will be doing, I reckon it will be one or two trips to London a year, and a trip to Vegas every other month. The obvious answer in this case will be to go back with DM. If I get Gold status through the fast track buy up, how good are my chances to get upgrades on the ILM - LAS route? If they are not that good, then it may be worth going with AC's program or even OZ's as I'd keep gold for 2 years once I get it. I'd also get to use the lounge as well. It seems that ILM is one of those small tiny airports which is only really served by US Air.

On a side note, I recently took a flight in Envoy from LHR-PHL-LHR. Although I had the new suite I was really disappointed in the service. I felt like I was in the way of the women serving me, and it also didn't help the fact that she was so old and frail that I was worrying about her during the whole flight. The food has also gone downhill compared to last time I flew Envoy a few years ago. I could be totally unfair here and people may argue that the standards are in fact better then before. I don't know, I just felt disappointed.

Cheers
