Definitely going to Ecuador, can I use BA points to get to Galapagos too?
Hey all!
I have 155k BA points kicking around that I haven't been able to find a use for up to this point.
I'm headed to Ecuador (flying into GYE) for a 4 week trip in Manta with my girlfriend beginning April 17th...and I was looking at using BA points to go from MIA to GYE. Turns out it's only 10k points + $23! Boom.
(an extra 10k points gets me biz class, but its on AA metal...is biz class even worth it on AA for a 4 hour flight? I've never flown it.)
Anyways, I figured since I'm down in Ecuador, might as well go check out the Galapagos (both me and the lady scuba)! Flights leave often from GYE which will make things super easy for us.
We can either go there at the beginning or the end of the trip for a few days; doesn't matter to us either way.
My question is this...what's my best method for getting to the Galapagos with this situation? Can I use BA points to fly to Galapagos with a stopover in GYE so it technically counts as one flight?
I'm gonna guess this is probably something I COULD have done, but not anymore due to the change in avios redemption... I'd guess I"m stuck trying booking 3 one-ways: MIA-GYE, GYE-GPS, and GPS-GYE-MIA.
Now, I also have 160k AA points kicking around, but I want to use those for a biz or first class flight I need to take to Guam in June.
Just curious as to what your thoughts are for my best bet to spend 4 weeks in Ecuador with a side trip to Galapagos; all booked hopefully using BA points, but would consider using AA points if it was a FAR better deal.
Thanks in advance guys!
