Whether flying with my wife or my Dad, on a 744, we always chose 2A/K. Close enough to say things to each other across the cabin quietly, you can see each other (which is nice!) and they are the two best seats on the plane.

747_not_777, that makes sense - I had just wondered whether the distance was so great that it would be uncomfortable talking to one another....having said that, I am pretty deaf at the best of times, so there probably won't be an extensive amount of conversation going on!
