You will certainly earn UA miles, it's associated with the operating carrier. However, depending on the fare class that you buy, it might be match to a different fare class with United (usually not the case of CO stock, but might be for Brussels Airlines).
If you are buying a Z fare class, then it will only earn 100% miles. J,C and D earn 125%.

I am looking at a flight, ORD to BRU. Regardless of the ticket I book, the flight is operated by UA. It is substantially less expensive to book as a Continental Departure and a Brussels Airlines return ticket, still operated in both cases by UA.
I am wondering how MP works if I provide my MP number for this ticket, will I be earning MP miles at the UA rate (For Biz: 125% award miles + status bonus, 150% EQM + status bonus) or the Brussels Airline Rate (100% award miles + 125% EQM).
Long story short, is mileage earning based on metal or ticket?
Thanks.
