I also pay the $2 for a seat in advance. If flying with two people, I reserve the aisle and window, and hope the plane isn't full so we get 3 seats for two people. The FA's are pleasant. You have to understand their system and work it (if you have baggage, buy in advance, don't reserve the row in front of the exit row, etc.) As far as LCCs, it's been the best (for me, at least).
