T5 Security (BAA) and Ann Widdecombe

In today's Daily Express the Ann Widdecombe column has an interesting piece about BAA. I tried to find it online but can't so am retyping here.

BAA bosses must take note

The following scene was observed by a young friend in the security lines of Heathrow Airport's Terminal Five at about 7pm on Friday, February 3.

An American lady had a large carrier bag packed full and placed it on the conveyor, where it got jammed. An official released it by thumping it whereupon it split and the contents went everywhere. The woman was understandably distraught. The reaction of the three officials at the belt? They stood and laughed at her, adding to her distress. There was no offer to put everything safely to one side while she went and looked for a bag, let alone any offer of a spare carrier bag from under the belt (you would have thought they had room for half a dozen or so in case of such an accident). There was not even a kind word, just undisguised laughter.

Well I have given the bosses the precise reference so perhaps those unpleasant characters will not be laughing quite so loudly when they read this. Meanwhile at least one visitor to our shores will return home with tales of what a rude, nasty lot the Brits are, courtesy of three BAA staff who have let down not only their fellow workers and their employers but all the rest of us too.
The BA Board has been full of moans about BAA security at T5. Can we hope of changes now it's made the national papers (albeit in a small column in the middle of the paper). Sadly, I doubt it.
