As pilots we sit above rows 2/3 on the 747. When turbulence is a problem we often call back to the rear galley to see how bad it is when deciding whether to turn the seatbelt sign on. It does seem worse the further back you go, but i guess that comes down to physics and moments.

Here was I thinking that the pilots are prescient and with some very sophisticated equipment know how bad it is going to be and on the basis of that switch on the seat belt sign.
I wonder how bad it would have been at the back if we felt it that much up front.
Does it feel worse, if one is on a flat bed?
