I picked up a brand new (62 miles on it) Camry LE at SNA this past weekend and pretty much agree with your assessment of the vehicle. It does all the right things but has no 'special' feeling to it. I didn't mind it, but it didn't make me want to go out and buy one either. I prefer the Altimas that I've had recently. Both vehicles, though, had noticeably loud engines when revved. I though the Camry's transmission was too jolt-y. I haven't done the mileage calculation but I think it had better mileage than the Altima. If I can find my gas slip I'll figure it out and update my post.

The worst part of the Camry experience was that the doors locked automatically when I shut the trunk (with the keys inside the trunk!). My wife claims that I hadn't actually unlocked the doors--I'm sure I did, and I'm sticking with that story!! The vehicle did chirp when the trunk lid was shut. and however it happened we were in a pickle. We were at the beach outside Huntington Beach so it wasn't all that convenient and we needed to catch a plane. AAA came to the rescue and got us going in about half an hour from the incident, so all ended well. My previous rental I had someone damage the car in a parking lot and take off, so I've had that issue to deal with, and now this: not so good luck of late (even if it *MAY* have been my fault this time out. LOL. Just don't tell my lovely wife that...).
