This has happened to me the last two times in J, flying out of SFO as well. The baggage handler at check in wanted to weigh my hand luggage. I told him no.

The check in agent intervened and told him to let it go.

Up until then, this had never happened before.

At least in SFO, this is purely and EK issue and nothing to do with security.

FWIW, I have never had a problem in DXB.
