Not sure which is safest over the ocean, but would have to imagine that if you are feet wet 2 hours from the nearest airport, it doesn't really matter if you're in the front or back of the plane, it's likely going to end poorly for you.
I do not believe ANYONE has ever survived a crash going over the Atlantic or Pacific in a modern jet. The shear size of the AC itself makes it come apart like paper mache when it hits the water at speed. Even in shallow water the outcome is usually very grim.
