Good choice on dropping the LV duffel!
Anyway re: the choice between the Topas & Salsa, I would consider going for the "Salsa Deluxe" line - they are basically the same as the Salsa but with nicer fittings inside, plus importantly they have the bag-hangng strap on the front so you should be able to piggyback the cabin trolley on the back of the larger one.
Also, have you considered the Limbo? My choice would be Salsa Deluxe or Limbo - I like them both and they are considerably lighter than the Topas.
Oh, and do get the four-wheel spinner whatever you get
