It appears that the City Line varies from 12 to 20 minute service and the express departs every 30 minutes consistently.

Headways all are over the map, but are highlighted at the top of most of the timetables.
It looks like weekday Express to Makasan has a 40 minute headway while to Phaya Thai it is 30 minutes.
Generally weekday headways on the City Line are 12 minutes during peak rush and 20 minute off-peak.
There are also extra City Line trains in-bound from Hua Mak for the morning rush.
Weekends, look at the timetables.
edited to add:
I just stumbled across this map, which might help some understand the connections between the SARL (Airport Rail Link), the BTS (Skytrain) and MRT (Subway).
http://www.bts.co.th/customer/en/02-route-current.aspx
Note that it even shows the ferry stops (pier = Tha) on the Chao Phraya Express Boats.
Adding another map:
http://www.thaitravelnews.net/wp-con...transport1.png Note that the Bang Wa (Silom line) extension may open on 12 August 2013.
And I did read somewhere, but can't find the link now, that some sort of pedestrian link between the City Air Terminal at Makasan (SARL) and the Petchaburi station on the MRT has been recently re-bid. They cannot build an underground link as there are some massive drainage systems in place, so I guess it will be an overhead link. As I sat in traffic for 40 minutes at Petchaburi road looking up at all the obstructions it is not clear how they will fashion the link.
Another addition:
daily ridership figures for February 10, 2012 inched over 50,000 for the first time: (Google Translate)
passengers using the service through the most up to 50,569 people are. line. City Line of 46,787 people. Line Express Line of 3782 people.
And the SRT ordered two new train sets (4-car I think?) for delivery in 2014, with a total additional 5 sets needed to get headways down to 7 minutes.
There may be some off-peak special fares of 20 baht (a Pheu Thai campaign promise) now on the City Line.
