It used to be the policy that you received points for your ticketed itinerary. But Aeroplan has recently and explicitly changed the policy to a "it's not our fault if your flights got changed so get stuffed" policy, uniquely slimy in the airline industry, I think.

My understanding was that this was about actual route. Giving you miles for actual route fown in case of irrops.

But that if rebooked on non-star carrier they would still give you the miles based upon purchased itinerary.

At least, it seems that's the way it worked for a while.
