Well...That is what they are used to asking for...a BP...I think something else would suffice...(ID, AC card etc) as it did in my case. The bottom line is if you are a member of the club (day pass, lifetime, annual, AMEX), you have the full access to what that club offers.
Amex Platinum card access to AA AC's requires that you have an AA boarding pass of some kind. (Boarding passes for the flight you just got off of, with no further onwards travel, are also okay.)
Amex Plat. gives access to US Airways Clubs regardless of what carrier you're on.
