not impressed

I remember using gogo once about a year ago on a different carrier, but I had my first experience with it tonight on my flight from Denver to Provo. Rather than connect with my laptop, I connected with my HTC Sensation (yes, I had wi-fi on, but my actual cellular signal turned off). Connecting was pretty painless, but the speed wasn't fast enough for me to do anything beyond basic web surfing. I couldn't pull up youtube videos and definitely couldn't do Hulu+. The Facebook app for Android worked, but was pretty slow.

Ultimately, it was fun to tweet from thousands of feet up, but short of checking headlines and an email or two, it just wasn't a good enough service that I would consider paying for it. Considering how slow the network was, I'd definitely think twice before connecting my laptop to a vpn to try to get actual work done on a flight.
