I was rather surprised by this, having never had my bag weighed when travelling in J on any carrier before. She said that the limit was 7kg and that security would weigh my bag upstairs?? I was really confused and started to protest but she said that it was an 'airport rule'.
Nothing happened at security and it was never mentioned again.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I've had the same experience in BNE in late December '11. However, I was not asked by check-in staff, but security. Before entering the scanners, I was approached and asked to place my bag on a set of scales. Reading was 9kg, then I was asked what was in my bag etc... then they let me go through... really seemed like a waste of time and resources.
