I certainly would understand that if one wanted LAX<>VVO. The flight would have to route TATL, and KE does not fly that.

By "region" all of Russia is in Europe. This is obviously not aligned with actual geography, but many airlines do the same thing to keep everything simple.

As long as one has regions, there will always be absurd cases. If the regions were strictly based on continents then an intra RU puddle jumper might cost a fortune.

BTW, the definition of what are the continents varies all over the world. And I still do not know where IST is.
