Actually, have had a look at Ebay's fees for selling a car.

£10 to list a £10k car. Then £35 max selling fee.

So pal sells their car, I pay with Amex/Paypal and he/she gets £10k - minus Paypal's 3.4% (£340).

So for less than £400 (presuming a give my pal £340 in return for wasting his time by not buying the car after all, and he refunds me the money in a cheque - so no question of cash and laundering) I would get 125,000 avios.

Now that seems a great deal!
