Rimowa Topas vs Salsa

After using hand me down bags and company logo bags for years, it's time to upgrade my luggage. I am probably going to buy three pieces:

1) Rimowa roller luggage for check in (26 or 29 inches)
2) Rimowa roller luggage for carryon (IATA)
3) Louis Vuitton keepall duffel (I know, I know)

For 1), I have decided on the Salsa model.

For 2), I am trying to figure out if I should go for the Salsa or the Topas line. The topas line is aluminium, the salsa is polycarbonate. Based on photos, the topas has some better internal and external finishes, looks a bit more luxe, etc. They both will seem to hold the same amount. However, I don't know if it is worth it at double the price (which is what Zappos quotes it as). Also, if I am throwing on a Louis Vuitton duffel on top of this thing, why bother spending the extra 500 for the aluminium model.

Thoughts?
