Mrs kbd has three pieces of advice; small projects, circular needles, and a small darning needle just in case some truly overzealous soul really does insist on confiscating the knitting needles - in which case you can save the project by threading a thread where the needles used to be.
Thanks for that advise. She tells me that she does carry the needle and thread for avariety of uses.
We are being told here and elsewhere that we can bring them on the aircraft for domestic flights within Australia, but there is an information gap relative to the international flight departure from SYD. Qantas tells me to ask Delta. Delta has now said that they allow them in SYD. I suppose we'll have to take our chances.
