Not interacting with a child you are sitting next to (or across from) on a long plane ride is ridiculously anti-social behavior and very callous. Nothing you think you have to do is too important to give a little attention to a child.
The only person being anti-social and callous right now is you.

Too many parents act entitled with the belief that their child is at the center of the universe and can do no wrong. God forbid someone else has their own needs and priorities that don't revolve around caring after your child.
