To be precise, I made both these reservations on-line, and then through a friend who gives a lot of business to a travel agent, got these two reservations combined. I actually stumbled across this thread when trying to find out if there was any way to combine these online so that I don't have to bother my friend in future...

I believe it is done by creating a new master PNR on a GDS system and linking the two PNRs as sub-reservations within the master. The reservations show up as one reservation on both airline websites (under individual PNRs) - however, to get your eticket and check-in, you have to do each airline separately. Helps with through check-in.
This must be something that a GOOD travel agent can do. I booked a trip two years ago. I wanted a UA domestic flight connecting to a TK international flight and I couldn't find a way to book it online. I contacted a travel agent (AAA) and paid $35 - emailed her ITA printouts, fare rules, everything. I very specifically explained that I wanted everything on one PNR so I would be protected.

I got two separate tickets and a note from her explaining that she couldn't book them on a single PNR and that she thought there probably wouldn't be a an issue because the connection times were adequate.

?? Has anyone asked the elite line to book an itinerary linking two separate flights (in the same alliance) on one PNR? Sometimes the problem is that the flight combination can't be booked from either airline's website and the combination just doesn't come up on 3rd party booking sites.
