(Years ago there was apparently a different SPG property in Agra, a Sheraton, that had a good further view of the Taj Mahal, but it seems to no longer be an SPG Property.)
I believe the old Sheraton (down the road from the Oberoi, but with good if distant views of the Taj Mahal) is still an SPG property. Now called the ITC Mughal -- it's very 1970s brick on the exterior, but the interior is nice. I've eaten at the downstairs restaurant Peshwari, before. I'll be there in a few weeks and can provide current details on the rooms afterward.
